Chinese National Detained in J&K

Pune: A 29 year old man from China was detained in Jammu & Kashmir . As per PTI, he had accessed Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir without authorisation. He was interviewed by the police and subsequently held later. 

The Army observed unusual online activity, causing security agencies in the Kashmir Valley to be on high alert. Hence, the Chinese individual named Hu Congtai was held. Reports indicated that he had visited Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh without authorisation. Officers discovered his searches regarding Article 370 and the deployment of security forces.

As reported by PTI, Hu Congtai arrived in Delhi on November 19 using a tourist visa that permitted him to explore Buddhist sites like Varanasi, Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur, Sarnath, Gaya, and Kushinagar. The Army’s identification of odd online behavior resulted in a warning being dispatched to security agencies in Kashmir. He was detained for accessing restricted zones without permission.

Additional exploration revealed that Congtai spent three days in the Zanskar area and explored multiple significant locations. Officials reported that he subsequently travelled to Srinagar on December 1. Upon examining his phone, police discovered searches concerning CRPF deployment at the valley. As per the report, after arriving in Srinagar, he lodged at a non-registered guesthouse and explored a Buddhist temple in Harwan where in this location there holds importance as a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was neutralized in an encounter there last year. He had likewise acquired an Indian SIM card from the public market.

Hu  Congtai holds a degree in Physics which is from Boston University respectively and his  passport indicates that he has traveled to various nations, like the United States, New Zealand, Brazil, Fiji, and Hong Kong.

 Authorities stated that he violated visa regulations and stated that the most suitable course was to return him to his native country.
