The couple was arrested in Mumbai, from their sister in law’s residence, following a high profile case pertaining to significant legal proceedings against the couple. This arrest follows after the two accused were issued a notice that demanded them appear before the police authorities on December 8, 2025.
Later on the accused couple was taken to Udaipur where they were produced before the court. They have secured a transit remand until Thursday while the investigators gather more evidence.
The case roots from a complaint made in Udaipur by the founder of Indira IVF, Dr. Ajay Murdia. In his complaint, Dr. Mudira accused the filmmaker of promising to produce a film on his late wife. He was convinced to finance the project and ensured that this venture would bring profits estimated of about Rs. 200 crore.
Vikram Bhatt and his wife stand as the primary accused in this case along with eight other parties including Mehboob and Dinesh Kataria. Based on the seriousness of this case, Rajasthan Police has been prompted to meticulously examine the available evidence, documents and financial records.
After the First Information Report (FIR) was filed, the filmmaker issued a statement stating proper cooperation with the authorities. He also clarified the provisions of all documents available with him to support his story. Although, this arrest surely is a significant turning point in this 30 crore fraud case, moving forward.
