Amazon's surprise layoff email sparks speculation about AWS job cuts.

Amazon on Tuesday appeared to have  precociously advised Amazon Web Services  pall- calculating  workers to layoffs planned for Wednesday morning by  transferring a commiseration dispatch and  platoon-wide meeting invitations hours beforehand. 

Reuters reported on Friday that Amazon intended to lay off thousands of commercial  workers starting this week. But the company has not yet informed impacted  workers, nor has it  verified the layoff plan. 

The dispatch  transferred on Tuesday  inked by Colleen Aubrey,  elderly vice  chairman of applied AI  results at AWS,  incorrectly said that impacted  workers in the U.S., Canada and Costa Rica had  formerly been informed they lost their jobs. 

In Slack  dispatches viewed by Reuters, AWS  workers who  entered the dispatch said the Wednesday meeting was  nearly  incontinently canceled. Amazon appeared in the dispatch to the layoffs as” Project Dawn.” 

Amazon’s  pall division, AWS, was hit with an  unanticipated dispatch on Tuesday, admitting” organizational changes” at the tech  mammoth. The dispatch,  transferred by Colleen Aubrey,  elderly vice  chairman of applied AI  results at AWS, was  snappily  repudiated, but not before it sparked  enterprise about brewing layoffs. 

According to reports, the dispatch stated that impacted associates had been notified, representing a post by Amazon’s HR chief, Beth Galetti, and mentioning” Project Dawn”, though the details of this  design remain unclear. The dispatch read” Changes like this are hard on everyone. These  opinions are  delicate and are made  courteously as we  place our association and AWS for  unborn success”. 

This incident comes as Amazon prepares for another round of job cuts, following a  former reduction of  14,000 commercial  places in October 2025. The company has not  verified the  compass of the  forthcoming layoffs, but it’s anticipated to impact thousands of  workers across  colorful divisions, including AWS, retail, and  mortal  coffers. 

Amazon’s  spokesperson  verified that the company is making”  delicate business  opinions” to optimize  sources and drive invention but didn’t give further details on the layoffs.
