Dinesh Karthik, a past Indian cricketer, has now accepted the role of captain of the Indian team for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 exhibition match to be held on the 7th to 9th of November 2025 at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground. Karthik, after announcing retirement from all formats of Indian cricket in 2024 and as batting coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) of IPL, is making a normal return back to competitive cricket as a captain.
This has now been confirmed by Hong Kong Cricket, as Karthik is now confirmed to be who fans have been waiting to see back on the field again in this format as the captain once again, of course, with him being batting coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.
Karthik has called it a “huge honour” to captain India at the Hong Kong Sixes, which has a better history and cult following internationally. “I am really looking forward to leading this talented group of players, and together we can entertain fans with an iconic style of cricket.
Ravichandran Ashwin will also return to the Indian squad for the first time since announcing retirement from the IPL, or at least that is most likely the case.
India will have some extra motivation because they will be hoping to bounce back after a terrible 2024 season in which they failed to win a single game and finished at the bottom of their group under captain Robin Uthappa. With Karthik as captain, the momentum with fans is great for a promising bounce-back season.
The Hong Kong Sixes is quick and fun and will provide three days of excitement with some of the names in the game. Expect a thrilling experience as India seeks to reestablish itself on the international stage.
