Google’s Gemini AI which is a chatbot app has taken the No. 1 spot on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store India charts, just after the tech giant’s Nano Banana Image editing AI model sparked a new viral trend of AI-generated images on social media.
Gemini is a mobile app which gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your device so you can get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more. The Gemini for iPhone app is also the top free app in the US App Store, according to a report by 9 to 5 Google software update. The app is reportedly in second position in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Following a sudden strike in popularity spurred on by Google’s Nano Banana AI model, which has reportedly been used to edit over 500 million pictures since its inception last month, the Gemini app rose quickly in the charts. A total of 23 million new users have apparently downloaded the Gemini app between August 26 and September 9.
The Gemini viral fad is around Google’s latest Nano Banana AI model, which allows people to upload many photos and generate new images in specified styles or flawlessly modified to incorporate a well-known celebrity. Up to 100 photos can be created or edited for free each day with this tool. However, if you have a Gemini AI Pro or Ultra subscription, you can utilize Nano Banana to create or edit 1,000 photos.
Although Google’s Gemini AI chatbot previously possessed the capability to generate AI-created images, the outcomes have not consistently been remarkable. The new AI model from Google DeepMind, referred to as ‘Nano Banana’, is officially named Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. It operates in a manner akin to most AI image editing applications: you upload an image and specify the modifications you desire.
To modify an image using Nano Banana, access Google AI Studio and log in with your Gmail account. Alternatively, Google Gemini can be utilized. Upon opening it, a banner will appear at the top stating: NEW! Try image editing with our premier image model, Nano Banana. From that point, simply upload an image, compose a prompt, and your edited image will be prepared in a matter of seconds.
As Gemini continues to rise this wave, it is yet to be seen whether these viral trends boost into a long term engagement or simply mark another fleeting internet craze.
