India enjoyed a smooth win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Four clash in Dubai, wrapping up a six-wicket victory with seven balls to spare. The match, as always, carried the weight of history and rivalry, but on this night, India’s openers stole the spotlight.
Put in to bat, Pakistan posted 171 for 5. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam was once again the backbone of the innings, scoring 62 from 47 balls. Fakhar Zaman chipped in with 38, but Pakistan never really broke free against disciplined Indian bowling. Arshdeep Singh stood out with 2 for 29, while the rest of the attack kept the pressure on in the middle overs.
India’s chase began with a bang; Abhishek Sharma came out fearless, smashing 74 off just 39 balls. His innings was full of clean hits, six boundaries, and five towering sixes that set the tone early. At the other end, Shubman Gill played his shots too, making 47 from 28. Their 105-run stand in under 10 overs all but decided the match.
Pakistan tried to claw back with a couple of wickets in the middle, but the target was already too small once India’s openers had done the damage. Captain Surya Kumar finished things off calmly, guiding his team home at 172 for 4.
The stats tell the story. India’s run rate during the powerplay was close to 11, while Pakistan managed only one breakthrough in that period. The difference in intent showed clearly on the scoreboard.
With this win, India remains unbeaten in the Super Four and looks well on course for the final.
For Pakistan, the loss means their next matches are must-wins.
The Dubai crowd split between blue and green got their share of drama and noise. But by the end of the night it were India’s fans who left the stadium smiling louder.
