Eight-time Olympic gold medalist and legendary sprint athlete Usain Bolt is all set to visit India to play as part of a special exhibition football match in Mumbai on October 1, 2025, as part of a two-day celebration organized by PUMA India from September 30 to October 1.
It’s popularly phrased that Bolt is all set to “trade his running spikes for football shoes,” representing the fact that he’s not there just to make a ceremonial appearance, but we shall get to witness him playing on the field as well.
The exhibition match is set to be played between prominent Indian clubs, Bengaluru FC and Mumbai FC, and Bolt is going to play for both sides for each half of the game. Bollywood personalities and other prominent figures will also be making special appearances as part of the event.
PUMA India MD Karthik Balagopalan exclaims that the purpose of the event is to celebrate the popularity of football in India, especially among the youth, whilst carrying the aim of inspiring and uniting various communities through sport.
Although Bolt is renowned around the world for his records as an athlete, very few are aware of the fact that he holds a special place for football and has been passionate about the game throughout his life, and he’s also been training and playing several trial matches ever since his sprinting retirement, further adding a personal significance to his presence as part of the event.
This is going to be a ticketed event, and as of now, the exact venues and pricing details are yet to be announced, but the presence of a legendary personality like Usain Bolt is definitely going to spark some huge audience interest and generate a lot of excitement among fans.
