India has stepped forward to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and Ahmedabad is all set to be the star of the show. A special team went all the way to London this week to present the bid, proudly showing off the city’s shiny stadiums, smooth roads, and growing global connections.

If India wins, this will be our second time hosting the Games; the first was back in 2010 in New Delhi. That event was huge, with thousands of athletes from 71 countries, but it also had its fair share of drama about overspending. This time officials are saying, “Don’t worry; we’ve learnt our lesson  these Games will be smarter, simpler and more fun.”

At the heart of the plan is the grand Narendra Modi Stadium, the biggest cricket stadium in the world; it can fit 132,000 fans. Ahmedabad also has other sporty spaces from the 2022 National Games. Add in the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, better roads and more flights, and you’ve got a city that’s ready to welcome the world.

And it’s not just about sports!  Gujarat’s food, culture, tourism and hotels are also being pitched as highlights. Moreover,  Ahmedabad’s hotel space has grown by 40% since 2018.

As  money is always a big question. The 2010 Games were super expensive ₹28,000 crore and sparked debates. But this time, the plan is to keep things “lean and green”, using partnerships and existing venues instead of splurging.

Experts say hosting the CWG would show that India can handle mega-events with style, and it could even give us a boost for a future Olympic bid. The Commonwealth Games Federation will decide by 2027. If Ahmedabad wins, the Games will return to India after 20 years, making it a truly magical moment for sports fans across the country.
