India set a new record by scoring the fastest team hundred against West Indies on day four of the second test series.

Opening pair Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out firing and played with an incredibly aggressive mentality after India bowled out West Indies for 255 runs, gaining a lead of 183 runs. The half-century partnership was reached in 5.3 overs, which is the quickest time for India in a Test match. They put the West Indies bowlers to task and destroyed them all over the pitch.

India took a lead of 183 runs after recording 438 runs, with Mohammed Siraj’s five-wicket haul earlier limiting the West Indies to 255. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 38 runs in 30 balls, while Rohit Sharma got his Test half-century in just 35 balls as they put up a 98-run opening wicket combination. This was Rohit Sharma’s quickest half-century ever. Shubman Gill, who entered at No. 3, played with ease and Virat Kohli went on to score a century in his 29th Test cricket.

India completely outplayed the West Indies on Day 4 to increase its chances of winning the Test series decider. Resulting in India achieving the new record and making its mark against a team like West Indies on the penultimate day in Trinidad.
