On World Youth Skills Day, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan introduced AI for India 2.0, a no-cost online course that provides training in artificial intelligence skills in various Indian languages. The program is recognized by NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education and Training) and IIT Madras, and it is a collaborative effort between Skill India and GUVI. GUVI, a technology platform developed by IIT Madras, enables the study of technology using local languages. The course content has been curated in nine Indian languages.

The availability of free online training for AI skills in Indian languages has had a transformative impact, revolutionizing the job prospects and empowerment of individuals in India. These platforms have effectively expanded opportunities for a large segment of the population with limited English proficiency, providing educational resources and training in regional languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and more.

Pradhan believes that using Indian languages for technology training is a crucial approach to eliminate language barriers in technical education and equipping the youth, especially those in rural areas, for the future.

Enhanced comprehension and memory are guaranteed by offering AI training in Indian languages. When individuals can comprehend intricate ideas and procedures in their native language, they are more inclined to engage with the material, ask questions, and actively participate in the learning process. This active involvement leads to an improvement in their knowledge and better prepares them for AI-related professions.

The availability of free online training in Indian languages has a notable impact on employment opportunities. It equips individuals with the sought-after AI skills necessary to compete more effectively in the job market. Given the increasing prevalence of AI across diverse industries in India, organizations actively seek professionals with expertise in this field. By utilizing these freely accessible online training resources, people can acquire the necessary skills to secure positions in AI-related sectors such as data analysis, machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
