As counting for the Maharashtra civic polls is underway, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) commissioner and election officer Abhijit Chowdhury said that counting for both EVM and ballots boxes to be tallied simultaneously. 

He said counting will be conducted at 10 different locations, each corresponding to one zone. “At every counting center, 20 tables have been set up for EVM counting. In addition, four tables in each zone have been earmarked for counting postal ballots,” Chowdhury specified.

For the Nagpur Municipal Corporation election, counting of votes began at 10 am on Friday. The polling was held on January 15 alongside elections to 28 other local bodies across Maharashtra. The election saw a voter turnout of 51 per cent on Thursday, January 15. Among those who casted their vote were Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
