An incident of road rage took place in Pune’s Kothrud area when a group of men, allegedly associated with notorious gangster Nilesh Ghaiwal, opened fire on a 36-year-old man, Prakash Dhumal. The incident took place near Shinde Chawl in Kothrud following an argument over allowing two-wheelers to pass.
According to the police, the criminals, linked with the shooting, are Mayur Kumbhare, Musa Shaikh, Rohit Akhad, and Ganesh Raut, who are members of Nilesh Ghaiwal’s gang. They allegedly fired three bullets at Dhumal, injuring him. The victim was admitted to Sahyadri Hospital for treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable. The police lodged a First Information Report( FIR) against the attackers. The criminals have been detained, and the process of formally placing them under arrest is underway. They have been held on charges of attempt to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under sections of the Indian Arms Act.
Nilesh Ghaiwal is a gangster from Pune known for his dispute with another gangster, Gajanan Marne. The two gangs have been involved in several crimes, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and theft. Ghaiwal’s gang has been expanding its hold, and he has been trying to establish his hold in the municipality.
The police are probing the incident and looking into the source of the arms used in the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sambhaji Kadam, stated that the criminals and Dhumal didn’t know each other, and the incident appears to be a road rage incident.
