Reliance Industries Limited held its 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 28th of August 2023. The meeting was conducted via video conferencing and highlighted several new plans and ambitions of RIL along with the future of the company.

Key announcements of AGM 2023 were:

  • Mukesh Ambani said that he will remain the chairman of the company, the CMD, for the next 5 years. 
  • Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani were all nominated to the Board of Directors for being inducted as Non-Executive Directors of the Company. 
  • The Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Nita Ambani from the Board.
  • Reliance has added over two lakh jobs in the financial year 2023 (FY23) across all its businesses. It has also invested over 150 billion dollars in the past decade.
  • The value of Reliance Retail is at 8.28 lakh crore rupees today, said Mukesh Ambani.
  • Jio AirFibre will be launched on Ganesh Chaturthi, i.e., September 19. The service aims to expand Jio’s network, with the potential to reach over 200 million users.
  • The launch of Jio Smart Home Services was announced by Akash Ambani. It will be a service that is set to revolutionize home management. He also announced the launch of Jio True5G Developer Platform.
  • Insurers will now be served by Jio Financial Services.
  • The aim of RIL is to achieve net carbon zero by the year 2035, working towards creating a more sustainable and green model.
  • RIL intends to set up a battery gigafactory by the year 2026. Ambani also acknowledged Reliance’s commitment to executing the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Manufacturing Complex, Jamnagar.
  • Jio is set to lead the Indian generative artificial intelligence (AI) movement.
