Key domestic equities inched higher on Wednesday, July 26, snapping a three-day losing trend, led by advances in L&T, Tata Motors, and ITC. Sensex rose 351.49 points, or 0.53 per cent, to settle at 66,707.20. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty gained 93.30 points, or 0.47 per cent, to conclude at 19,773.90.

Sensex rose almost 540 points during the intraday session to an intraday high of 66,897.27, while the Nifty50 fell to 19,825.60.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) gained 3.50 per cent today to finish at Rs 2,650.90 on BSE after the company’s net profit increased 46.5 per cent to Rs 2,493 crore in the June quarter. Its board authorised a Rs 10,000 crore share buyback at Rs 3,000 per share.

Following two days of a losing streak, ITC was among the biggest gainers today, jumping more than 2% to conclude the day at Rs 471.95 on BSE.

ITC, L&T, Reliance, Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Britannia, Cipla, Infosys, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, UPL and the State Bank of India were the top gainers in today’s session. 

Apollo Hospital, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, M&M, Tech Mahindra, Divis Lab, Titan, and SBI Life were among the top losers today. 

Broader markets extended gains as well, with all indexes ending in the green. Nifty Smallcap 50 increased by 0.66 per cent, Nifty Midcap 50 jumped by 0.56 per cent, the Nifty 100 climbed by 0.49 per cent, the Nifty 200 grew by 0.48 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 100 rose by 0.44 per cent.

Only the auto and consumer durables indexes finished in the red. Nifty PSU Bank increased by 1.50 per cent, Nifty Realty gained by 1.19 per cent, Nifty FMCG climbed by 1.05 per cent, and the media index rose by 0.93 per cent.
