They met with an accident while they were on their way to a hearing in Basirhat Sub-divisional Court. This incident has led to suspicions of a conspiracy to silence him by TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh, currently in jail.

Bholanath Ghosh, who was one of the key witnesses in the Sandeshkhali attack on Enforcement Directorate officials, was injured on Wednesday after his car collided with a truck in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The incident occurred on Basanti Highway near Boyamari, killing Ghosh’s younger son and his driver, Sahanur Molla.

Locals claimed that the truck crushed and dragged the car along, coming from the opposite direction at high speed and pushed the car into the adjacent water body. According to the officials, the truck was hanging on the edge of the water body and the driver has likely escaped from the scene.

Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh, who is currently in jail for being connected to the 2024 attack on Enforcement Directorate officials in Bengal’s Shandeshkhali, has been accused of pulling strings and conspiring to kill Ghosh by his elder son, Biswajit.

Hossain Mehendi Rahaman, the Superintendent of Basirhat, confirmed that Ghosh has been transferred to a private hospital in Kolkata after initially being taken to a local hospital.

He also added that the bodies of those deceased were sent for post-mortem in Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital. Ghosh and his son were appearing in the Basirhat sub-divisional court for one of the several cases filed against him by Shahjahan.

Official Police complaints by the family member were yet to be filed, according to the last reports.
