Indian singer Arijit Singh has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the third most-followed artist on Spotify, surpassing global sensations like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Eminem. This accolade places him behind only Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande, according to an India Today report. Arijit’s ascent to this position can be attributed to his prolific output of songs, particularly in the past eight months.
He has also surpassed well-known Spotify regulars such as Drake, The Weekend, Rihanna, and Adele, thanks to his significant body of work. Arijit’s recent track, “Chaleya,” has him lending his voice to Shah Rukh Khan in a romantic song for the upcoming film “Jawan.” Composed by Anirudh Ravichander and penned by Kumaar, the song adds to Arijit’s diverse portfolio.
In addition, Singh has also collaborated with Jasleen Royal on her independent single “Heeriye,” alongside Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan. Additionally, Arijit contributed his vocals to Ranveer Singh’s songs in the album of Karan Johar’s romantic comedy “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.” This included the romantic number “Tum Kya Mile,” the lively dance track “What Jhumka,” and the poignant song “Ve Kamleya.”
Arijit’s rendition of the rehashed version of Ali Sethi’s popular song, titled “Pasoori Nu,” garnered attention, and he responded to criticism by highlighting the importance of his involvement in initiatives supporting underprivileged education.
In 2023, Arijit Singh sang various tracks including “Tere Pyaar Mein” from the film “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar,” “Phir Aur Kya Chahiye” from the romantic comedy “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke” starring Vicky Kaushal, and “Khairiyat” in the blockbuster “Gadar 2” starring Sunny Deol.
Arijit Singh’s remarkable rise in Spotify followers is a testament to his musical prowess and the widespread appeal of his songs across different genres and films.
