Bengaluru was rocked by an explosion at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe in the bustling Whitefield area. The blast, occurring during the busy lunch hour, left at least 10 individuals injured, prompting swift action from authorities.

Eyewitnesses recount the chaotic scene as thick smoke engulfed the cafe following the blast. Among the injured are both staff members and customers who gathered at the popular eatery. Authorities responded to the emergency, with fire personnel and medical teams rushing to the scene to assist the victims.

Suspicions arose regarding the cause of the explosion. Initial reports pointed to a potential gas leak, further examination revealed evidence suggesting the use of an improvised explosive device (IED). Investigators found a bag containing the suspected device, leading them to believe that the blast was intentional rather than accidental.

There is also a revelation of a possible act of terrorism. D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, affirmed the seriousness of the situation. He assured the public that law enforcement agencies were diligently tracking the movements of a suspect believed to be involved in the incident.

A comprehensive investigation has been launched into the blast. Seven teams from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) are deployed to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to the explosion. Forensic experts combed through the wreckage, collecting vital clues to determine the exact cause of the blast.

Political tensions are also simmering as opposition leaders criticize the government’s handling of the situation. B.Y. Vijayendra, Karnataka BJP President, expressed concern over the apparent failure of police intelligence and called for accountability in ensuring public safety. CM Siddaramaiah provided insights into the ongoing investigation, stating that initial findings pointed towards the presence of an IED left behind in a bag. He emphasized the need for cooperation from all parties and urged against politicizing the incident.

The community rallied together in support of the victims and their families and also provided aid to those injured in the blast. G. Parameshwara, Karnataka Home Minister, and Alok Mohan, DGP, also visited the cafe with the National Investigation Agency in the Whitefield area.
