Meta’s recent launch Threads has been the talk of the town this month and is also regarded as a counter to Twitter.

But the platform is currently facing a drop in its used engagement. According to the Wall Street Journal, the number of daily users of the application has dropped consecutively for two weeks with around 13 million users. According to the data by Sensor Tower, the platform has seen a sharp decline by a huge margin of 70 percent from its peak during the early phase of July.

Threads was launched on the 5th of July in over 100 countries for both iOS and Android users. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes that 10s of millions of people come back to Threads, despite its different story. Meta executives and officials are introducing new features to the platform but its declining involvement has pushed them behind Twitter. The reports also suggest that users are now spending around 10 minutes on Threads compared to 20 minutes last week.

Despite the shortcomings, Meta’s Threads registered over 150 million user sign-ups last week and became one of the top free applications on the App Store. Though in comparison Twitter is still way ahead and enjoys the engagement of 200 million users daily.

On a global level, Threads has witnessed a decent presence in multiple markets. India is currently its leading market which accounts for around 32 percent of its download. Brazil comes on 2nd with 22 percent and then the United States with 16 percent of the total installations.
