Tech corp Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella will be visiting India as a part of his annual visit on 7th and 8th February, 2024. The central theme of the visit this year is Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its opportunities.

In an internal message to the company (as mentioned in the article by Hindustan Times), Punnet Chandok, Microsoft India and South Asia’s president elaborated on the purpose of the CEO’s visit. He stated that this visit represents the company’s dedication to bring new technology to the current systems for expanding opportunities in India. The email also mentioned the growing role of AI in changing ‘India’s Techade’, which has the potential to take India and South Asia on a higher pedestal in the world’s technology market. The mail also spoke about the vitality of the Indian technology industry in the growing opportunities of AI and how Microsoft promises its strong commitment to encourage and enhance Indian technology.

As stated in an article by Moneycontrol, Nadella may also have meetings scheduled with some of India’s leading AI start-ups in Mumbai and Bangalore. His endeavors to bring advancements to the Indian technology forum have been witnessed at several occasions. In his visit to India last year, Satya Nadella met some prominent developers, start-ups, customers and students. He had also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his US visit along with other big names of the tech-world like Tim Cook from Apple and Sundar Pichai from Google.

The CEO has been actively engaging in discussions and efforts in the field of AI. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Nadella mentioned the global consensus being observed on AI despite differences in regulatory and legal approaches across nations. He also emphasized on the pressing need for agreements on set standards and safeguards for AI worldwide. 

The company’s focus on AI has grown multifold since its partnership with OpenAI in 2023. Microsoft had previously invested in OpenAI in 2019 and 2021 as well. As per the data by Bloomberg Intelligence, the revenues for the tech corp are expected to increase by nearly 15 percent in its 2024 fiscal year because of the book in AI usage.
