On a recent podcast of Nadir Ali, celebrity guest Moammar Rana described meeting Priyanka Chopra in real life with derogatory remarks on her complexion, while comparing her with Ameesha Patel. Words like “bhayanak”, “maid” and “kala namak” were used to describe the actress.
Actor Moammar Rana in a podcast with host Nadir Ali started comparing the beauty of Pakistani and Indian women. He said that no one in Pakistan is “bhayanak (frightening)” , but he doesn’t feel the same about India after meeting Priyanka Chopra.
The Pakistani actor said that while he was sitting beside Salman Khan at an event, some random woman came and sat beside him. The podcaster asked about the identity of the woman and said “Was she a maid?”. Rana said that he didn’t know either, hence he asked Salman Khan about her and got to know that she was Priyanka Chopra. With a strong expression of disgust the actor described how seeing Chopra in real life killed the crush that he had on her.
On this the podcaster, Nadir Ali, sympathized with him and went on to say, “Isse acha aap kala namak chhant lete (you should have better filtered out the black salt)”. But the comments on skin complexion do not stop there. Rana continued to compare Priyanka Chopra with Ameesha Patel, and said that the latter actress was truly beautiful. Taking the conversation forward the host asked what is beautiful about her, “face or……?”, while gesturing towards his body. The subtle connotation of the gesture was to get Rana to praise Ameesha Patel’s body. But the actor refrained and said “Now, I can’t say everything here.”
People on both sides of the border have strongly opposed this entire episode of the show. Since several of his podcasts have been found to be disparaging of other Pakistani performers, podcast presenter Nadir Ali has generated controversy in Pakistan. This time, internet users are calling for the show’s cancellation due to the racial remarks made against Priyanka Chopra and the sexist remarks made about Ameesha Patel’s physique.
