Rains across the country and especially in northern India have now created havoc. Many districts in Uttarakhand and neighboring states are bearing the wrath of the prevailing weather situation in the country. Western disturbances, along with northwest monsoons, have disturbed the normal rain levels across the country.

Uttarakhand, the land of gods and abode of beautiful rivers and valleys, has become a dangerous site at present. Multiple landslides along with overflowing, raging rivers have contributed to multiple accidents.

Among the many ongoing projects The Namami Gange Project, which is an ongoing project, recently witnessed a severe incident resulting in 15 people being electrocuted on the banks of the river Alaknanda in Chamoli district. An official statement was made by state health minister Dhan Singh Rawat on Wednesday. To provide immediate care, all victims of the incident are being airlifted to AIIMS in Rishikesh. A magisterial inquiry to probe the incident has been ordered. The security guard at the sewerage plant was the first to be electrocuted. He is also among the three, including the police inspector and sub-guard, to be dead.

The project runs to keep Ganga free from impurities and also because it holds significance in mythology. It aims at conserving heritage for many and also helping rejuvenate the river flowing across states and sources. Rains across the state were also a reason for the electrocution of many.  Chamoli is also known for its history associated with the Dhara Devi temple responsible for the river’s course. The primary reason for electrocution was the high-voltage current associated with rain. On a daily average, the current running is 415 volts in comparison to 11000 volts to jerk down an individual.

Better planning with all elements in place let’s say a better understanding of voltage supply results in no more such Incidents
