The Central Crime Branch (CCB) detained five alleged terrorists in Bengaluru today on suspicion of plotting a terror attack in the capital of Karnataka.

Although the man’s current whereabouts are unknown, the police believe that Junaid, a suspect from Bengaluru’s RT Nagar neighborhood, lives abroad and is the mastermind behind the distribution of explosives and weapons to the five detained individuals. The police are actively looking for Junaid.

Suhail, Omar, Zahid, Mudasir, and Faisal are five detained individuals from Bengaluru who are aged 25 to 35. According to CCB officials, the five planned to explode a bomb in the city. In connection with a 2017 murder investigation, officials further stated that all five suspects were being held in Bangalore Central Jail, where they had contact with terrorists and began planning the explosion.

B. Dayananda, the police commissioner of Bengaluru, stated that the CCB had successfully found those who would vandalize the city. There are five suspects in custody. From them, authorities found seven pistols, a lot of live ammunition, a walkie-talkie, and other things. These weapons were provided to those arrested by one of the accused, who later escaped, to engage in certain illegal activities. According to the NDTV story, there are concerns that jails will serve as a refuge for terrorists due to the radicalization of prisoners in Karnataka. The main suspect in the Mangaluru cooker explosion from the previous year, Mohammad Shariq, was presented as an example in the investigation. It’s believed that a suspect apprehended in connection with the Hyderabad bombing radicalized Shariq when he was doing time in Belagavi prison.
