A shocking video of two women in Manipur being paraded nude down a road by a gang of men has gone viral on social media. Widespread resentment and cries for action have resulted because of this. According to a tribal group, the two women were gang-raped in a field. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) released a statement stating that the occurrence occurred on May 4 in the Kangpokpi region, around 35 kilometers from the state capital Imphal. An official made an anonymous statement stating, “The complaint was filed by the head of the village where the incident happened. A zero FIR was filed when the complaint came to us last month. The incident happened at the Nongpok Sekma police station of Thoubal, so the case was transferred to them,” The police are to look into this situation as quickly as possible, according to Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Smriti Irani, the minister for women’s and children’s development, talked with Mr. Singh and the chief secretary about the terrible occurrence, according to NDTV. According to Mr. Singh, she has been told that swift action will be taken against the criminals. Smriti Irani also sent a tweet.

According to a top police official, they have identified the culprits and they will soon be under arrest. According to the officer, the survivors approached the police about 15 days after their horrifying experience on May 4. The officer added, “They went to Kangpokpi, though the crime did not occur there. But we have got leads. We will catch the men in a day or two.”

Since May 4, internet access in Manipur, a state governed by the BJP, has been intermittent. Sporadic violence is still occurring throughout the state. The Kuki tribe has called on the Chief Minister to step down. There have been over 120 fatalities from the ethnic conflict, and thousands of internally displaced people are now living in relief camps.
