The famous Bollywood actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, who is always vocal about women’s safety, strongly reacted to the lack of action against the sexual assault in Manipur. She demanded instant punishments for the accusers who made the tribal women parade in their undies. She also demanded justice for the women while discussing collective shame and anger, and she asked everyone to unite and raise a united voice against the crime.

She took to her Instagram, with 88.5 million followers, to talk about the issue. She wrote on her Instagram story, “It took a video going viral… 77 days after the heinous crimes were committed… before action was taken. Rationale? Reasons? None matter—irrespective of what and why, situational or circumstantial, we cannot allow women to be pawns in any game.”

“The collective shame and anger need to be channeled now in a unified voice for just one thing—swift justice.” she added along with hashtags’ #togetherinshame’ and ‘#justiceforthewomenofmanipur.’

Kareena Kapoor Khan also talked about taking immediate action, took to the Instagram story, and wrote, “Deeply disturbed with the situation in #Manipur. All words condoning the crimes mean nothing until action is taken. Swiftly.”

The actors responded to a video of two women being sexually assaulted and the horrifying violence against women from the Kuki-Zomi community being paraded naked. The event occurred on May 4th, and an FIR was filed two months prior, mentioning the charges of murder, gang rape, and others. The police also took no action until the video surfaced.

Other famous Bollywood actors like Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Sonu Sood, Kiara Advani, Renuka Shahane, and Richa Chadha, among others, also took the stand and reacted to this horrific violence.

Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly demanded the government take strict measures against the accusers and get justice for the country’s women. Taking to her Twitter, she wrote, “I am unable to sleep or eat since I saw the #Manipur_Violence videos a few hours ago. Shaking with anger, pain, and anger again. Violence is violence. Ethnic, non-ethnic, whatever the reason, violence is violence, and violence against women isn’t cultural; it’s criminal.”

“Protection of women and children should be the utmost priority of authorities. To see this heinous, barbaric crime against women has shaken me to the core; I urge the government, and I have faith in the government, they take such stringent action that no one dares, even in their wildest dreams, to think of ever attempting anything like this ever again!!! #ManipurBurning #ManipurCrisis,” Celina added in the tweet.
